Disney pulled the trigger on the first full Avengers: Doomsday trailer at CinemaCon 2026 — and Marvel Studios deployed actual green-laser anti-piracy systems across the theater to stop attendees from recording it. The footage features Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in direct combat with Chris Hemsworth's Thor, and the largest single-frame ensemble shot ever assembled in MCU history.

The trailer debuted during Disney's CinemaCon presentation on May 19 in Las Vegas — the annual gathering where studios show theater owners what's coming. Robert Downey Jr. walked on stage to standing applause; the trailer played twice; CinemaCon attendees described the footage as 'the kitchen-sink Avengers movie everyone has been waiting for since Endgame.'

What the trailer showed. Per multiple attending journalists from Variety, Deadline, and IGN, the trailer's confirmed beats include: Doctor Doom (RDJ) facing off against Thor in armored combat; a single ensemble shot featuring Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, Pedro Pascal's Mister Fantastic, Ian McKellen's Magneto, Letitia Wright's Shuri, Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, and dozens more standing on what appears to be a destroyed Wakandan plateau; and Doctor Doom's first spoken line — delivered with Downey's voice modified through metal-mask resonance, deliberately distinct from his Tony Stark cadence.

Marvel deployed actual anti-piracy hardware. Multiple CinemaCon attendees independently reported that the venue used green laser scanners directed at the audience seats during the trailer — a real-time night-vision detection system designed to identify smartphones recording the screen. The footage has been removed from every social platform within minutes of any upload attempt. As of May 20, no usable clip exists publicly online. This is the most aggressive anti-piracy effort Marvel has ever deployed for a single trailer screening.

The trailer's confirmed ensemble extends across MCU, X-Men, and Fantastic Four casts — making this the largest cross-franchise Marvel film ever assembled. The original six Avengers' return remains officially unconfirmed but heavily teased; CinemaCon attendees noted Hemsworth, Mackie, Hiddleston, and Holland are all in the trailer, but no shots of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man (as opposed to Doctor Doom) and no Chris Evans were shown. Avengers: Doomsday releases December 18, 2026.
