Why can’t T’Challa be recast now as a variant?

Couldn't a new actor take on the role of T'Challa and have the variant be displaced in the MCU due to some cosmic force or some reason he is needed in MCU???Perhaps this variant comes from a universe where Wakanda,Shiri,M'Baku and everyone else was wiped out and he was the sole survivor…….or perhaps bring Storm in with this variant???

If every scenario is possible, then somewhere out there is a reality where Wakanda is now protected by Bucky Barnes the White Panther.

    Actually the White Wolf

Because the new actor coming in would have to bear with the expectations of all the fans from throughout the world. Chadwick Boseman has created such a legacy with the character, that it will be tough for anyone to match up to. People appreciate his performances in Black Panther and IW but for me, he achieved greatness with the character in Civil War with the way he portrayed his grief for T’Chaka.

Coming back to the topic, there’s a reason why the MCU still had doubts in their minds for casting someone as big as Tom Cruise to play Iron Man in the 838 universe. Because RDJ has done an extraordinary job playing the character, and it will be so hard to forget him whenever we see someone else play Iron Man. Similarly for Black Panther, comparisons are bound to be made which will be unfair towards the new actor. And we saw how Wyatt Russell was treated in real life just because he picked up Cap’s shield in the Falcon show

Are we getting a different “Recast T’challa” thread every day? I’m only asking so I can prepare my answer for tomorrow’s post ahead of time.

T’challa is unique among heroes because of what he represents in *our* world. In MCU canon there is no reason whatsoever why he can’t be replaced by a variant but in our world it would incredibly disrespectful to the character and the man who played him while fighting a closely guarded secret battle with the cancer that would ultimately strike him down in his prime.

Yes you can recast the character, but to do so would invite the veritable shitsrorm of bad publicity that Marvel really can’t afford to weather right now. Especially on the heels of the Majors’ case.

Whoever steps into the Vibranium boots will be given an impossible task of earning the public’s good will when the role is still held in which high regards, as is the late actor. It would invite comparison. And if you can’t do it better: don’t do it. And if you *can* do it better, it still invites so much bad will from the public and press it’s not *worth* doing.

And before anyone snidely mentions General Ross/William Hurt – they are very, very different scenarios. Only a cynic willfully ignoring the context of both characters and both actors would expect both scenarios to be treated with an identical approach.

Black Panther *means* more to more people than Thadeus (that’s right, his first name is Thadeus – not that it gets a mention anywhere) “Thunderbolt” Ross. And the two actors both succumbing to illness and eventual death shouldn’t be compared either. They’re unique instances and ought not to be joined.

Much like Tony Stark, the character got a wonderful, respectful sendoff in canon. Don’t sullt that moment by bringing in a spare we had tucked away in the multiverse, and don’t sully the actor who spent his final years giving everything he had to that role, knowing full well what it meant to the fans.

Because it’s inherently disrespectful to Chadwick’s legacy to have him replaced by somebody else: I think we can agree that nobody could do Black Panther like him.

The character has been killed off and he will remain as such.

Because Chadwick fought through cancer during his final performance. He is the only T’Challa. Wakanda forever

T’Challa is kid now, like Groot to baby Groot.

Have you seen Ryan Gossling as Black Panther?

By the time we return to the live action 616 version of Wakanda I wouldn’t be surprised if enough time has passed to let Toussaint start his hero run.

    Variant yes, but 616 no
