What happens in Koi... Mil Gaya (2003)? — Full Plot
We open with a Sandhya Mehra family tragedy in Mumbai. Sanjay Mehra (Rakesh Roshan), a brilliant scientist, has been working on alien-communication research. He successfully establishes contact with an extraterrestrial signal. While returning home through a remote area, his car crashes. He dies; his pregnant wife survives.
Cut to: years later. Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan) — Sanjay's son — has been born with mental disabilities resulting from the car crash. He has the body of a young man but the mental capabilities of a child. He lives with his mother Sonia in the hill station of Kasauli.
Rohit attempts to continue his father's work. He activates his father's old alien-communication signal generator. The signal is received by a small group of aliens. A spaceship lands near Kasauli. One alien — small, blue-skinned, named Jadoo — is left behind when the ship departs.
Rohit befriends Jadoo. Through their connection, Jadoo uses his cosmic energy to heal Rohit — gradually transforming him from a disabled young man into a physically perfect, super-intelligent person with superhuman abilities. Rohit gains super-strength, super-speed, and accelerated regeneration.
Rohit's transformation creates conflict with local criminals — particularly Raj (Rajat Bedi), a violent landlord who has been harassing the Mehra family. Rohit confronts Raj using his new abilities. Raj plots Rohit's death.
Jadoo is captured by international authorities who detect his alien-energy signature. Rohit, now fully empowered, rescues Jadoo. The two return to the Kasauli outpost to call for Jadoo's family's return spaceship.
The film closes with Jadoo returning to his home planet. Rohit retains some of his enhanced abilities. The film established the foundation for Krrish (2006) and its subsequent sequels. Koi... Mil Gaya was a major Indian box-office success in 2003.
