Charles regularly meets with the President. The team is dispatched on a space rescue mission: a NASA space shuttle has been damaged by a solar flare. The X-Men board their X-Jet and head into orbit.
The solar flare is something different — a sentient cosmic energy entity hunting through the universe. Jean Grey absorbs the entity to save the rest of the team.
